Summer Guide to SLC...

Posted by Rachel Parcell on

I always get lots of questions asking what there is to do in Salt Lake City, Utah! I have many great experiences living in this city and I wanted to share some of the fun Summer activities that my family, friends and I enjoy during the warmer months. I have listed out some of my favorite places to eat, explore and stay in the valley. I hope that this helps you to have the best visit in SLC or even just helps you explore the city you live in a little bit more! :) If you are from the area or have visited Salt Lake City, I would love to hear about your favorite summer activities and spots as well!

Cutest Photo Spots:

-The Capitol Building-

This is such a pretty spot for photos, especially in the Spring and Fall!

-Cents of Style Wall-

This wall painted in all different colors is such a perfect backdrop for photos and to make your IG feed colorful!

-Temple Square-

All year round the Temple grounds are so pretty. There is always a pretty spot to take a photo everywhere you go.

-Ashton Gardens-

So many pretty photo spots on the 55 acres of gardens at Thanksgiving Point. You can walk it or rent a golf cart to get around.

-Albion Basin-

The wildflowers and sunflowers start to bloom in the month of July and it is such a picturesque scene! I try to make it up there every July to take some pretty pictures.

-Montage Deer Valley-

This is the perfect little place to escape up in the mountains. Everything around it is so picturesque and the perfect backdrop for any photo!

-Memory Grove Park-

This park is super cute with a stream that flows through the middle and cute little bridge.

-Liberty Park-

This is a pretty little park with a walking path, lots of trees, and a pond that makes a great backdrop.

-Ken Sanders Rare Books-

This place has the cutest little book wall you can take photos in front of. Such a fun spot!

-Cubby's-

The perfect lunch spot with so many healthy and delicious options.

-Cafe Rio-

This is the first thing I crave after I land in Utah from a trip! It is a Utah staple and every locals' favorite spot. You have to try it!

Fav Trails to Hike:

-Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge-

This is my family's favorite trail to run, or even to do a Sunday for a family walk. It leads you to the most beautiful bridge suspended between two canyons. Such a great workout, but not to hard or far.

-Potato Hill-

I also run this trail with my dad. It's right above the Draper temple, it has some of the most beautiful views of the valley.

-Provo Canyon Trail-

This is one of my favorite trails to run when I'm training for a half marathon. We start at South Fork and run down the trail until we hit the mouth of the canyon at Wills Pitt Stop. It's about 10 miles. The path is paved so it's good for biking and walking too. Also stroller friendly.

-American Fork Canyon Trial-

One of the most beautiful trails. The hike to the Timp caves is a killer workout too! I did it once carrying Isla Rose in a Baby Björn when she was a baby, one of the best workouts I've ever done. I was SO sore the next day.

-Donut Falls Hike-

The best donut in the state of Utah ;)

Fav Summer Date Night Tradition:

-Summer Concert Series at Deer Valley Resort-

Drew and I have been going to the Summer Concert Series at the Deer Valley Resort for years! It is such a fun way to spend the night under the stars listening to good music and enjoying the warm summer night!
