Hosting Ideas for the 4th of July

Hosting Ideas for the 4th of July

Posted by Rachel Parcell on

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I always host a big barbecue at my house for my family. We spend the day swimming, playing games, and of course, eating the best food! I love hosting fun holidays at my house. I get to be creative with planning, decorating, and the menu. What I love most is having the opportunity to get my family together and make memories!

Red, White, and FOOD

Is there anything better than 4th of July food? I think it's shard to beat! I'm sharing some of my favorite sides, appetizers and desserts to make for the 4th of July! Keep scrolling to see what's on the menu!

Star Spangled Fruit Board

I use my RP Wooden Serving Board for just about everything! This patriotic fruit board was so easy to put together and it turned out to be darling! I bought a watermelon, and cut it in several round slices about 1inch thick. Then I used star cookie cutters to cut out cute star shapes! I used the three smaller sizes for this. Once I had my watermelon stars all ready, I put 5-7 blueberries on bamboo skewers and put a watermelon star on top. I made several of these cute skewers, and set them aside. Next, I did the same thing with my dragonfruit. For the dragon fruit, I only used the smallest star cookie cutter. I recommend getting multiple dragonfruits because they are so small!
I placed the skewers on the tray and placed the dragonfruit stars and extra watermelon stars on the board. I also included my favorite and super simple watermelon dip to the board. All I do for this dip is mix together 8 oz. of softened cream cheese and 16 oz. of marshmallow fluff. So festive and delicious!

Festive Berry Salad with Poppyseed Dressing

This festive berry salad is one of my favorite summer salads to make. I made this for the 4th of July last year, and it was such a hit, I have to make it again! You can find ingredients and instructions on how to make it here!

Triple Berry Pie

Dessert is arguably the best part of a party. My triple berry pie recipe is always a family favorite, and is perfect for your 4th of July barbecue!

^^ The Short Sleeve Ivory Lace Shirtdress is one of my favorite pieces from the most recent RP collection. I love white dresses in the summer, and this dress is perfect for the 4th of July! I'm wearing my favorite pearl hoops to complete my look!

The Large Wicker Tray is perfect for making a fun, festive floral centerpiece or decoration. I filled the tray with red, white, and blue flowers and some of the watermelon star skewers I made above!

My backyard is my favorite place to be in the summer; especially on the 4th of July! I love decorating my planters with these small American flags and using them as a centerpiece. And of course, it's not a proper pool day without some fun floaties and beach balls!
